Put the cardamom pods in a mortar and pestle. Crack open the pods with the pestle and remove the black seeds. Discard the green skin. Ground the black seeds into a powder.
Add the milk, pitted dates, ground green cardamom, vanilla extract, and vanilla ice cream into a blender. Puree until smooth.
Pour the milkshake into milkshake glasses. Serve with whipped cream and half a date.
Notes
Use any dairy or plant-based milk. This tastes great with whole milk, almond milk, and coconut milk.
